To help prepare for an appearance in Corvallis next month by author Leslie Marmon Silko, a discussion of her first novel, "Ceremony," is scheduled for from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the Corvallis-Benton County Public Library.
Silko is scheduled to speak in Corvallis at 6:30 p.m. April 4, at the Gilfillan Auditorium on the Oregon State University campus.
The New York Times Book Review has called Silko the most accomplished Native American writer of her generation and writer Sherman Alexie has called "Ceremony" "the greatest novel in Native American literature."
Sunday's discussion will be led by Modoc tribal elder Delphine Jackson. Copies of the book are available for check-out at the library's Adult Services Reference Desk.
Silko, the first speaker in OSU's Native Americans Philosophies class and lecture series, also is scheduled to speak and sign books April 5, at OSU's Memorial Union.
