This log includes incidents in which there may have been a public disturbance or a risk to the public. Information comes from the Corvallis Police Department and the Benton County Sheriff's Office. It does not include all calls for service. The status of incidents may change after further investigation. Locations are approximate. People arrested or suspected in crimes are considered innocent until proven otherwise.

Wednesday, Feb. 13

Reckless motorcycling: 12:27 a.m., Highway 99W and Northeast Conifer Boulevard, Corvallis. Police attempted to stop a motorcycle for failing to stop at two red lights. The cyclist accelerated to a high speed, headed north on Highway 99W and turned east onto Northeast Conifer Boulevard, losing the officer. A police search for the cyclist was unsuccessful.

Criminal mischief: 7:24 a.m., 100 block S. Fifth Street, Monroe. A deputy contacted the owner of a Monroe service station who reported that someone had vandalized the lock on his door. The man said someone shoved wood pieces into the door lock of the business and wrote "Ha Ha Ha" on the door.

Reckless endangerment: 8:55 a.m., 31700 block Fern Road, Philomath. A detective followed up on a report concerning a 15-year-old boy who had reportedly thrown a steak knife in the direction where his grandmother was sitting. The boy was cited and released to his mother.

MIP-Tobacco: 11:02 a.m., Northwest 11th Street and Pierce Way, Corvallis. An officer noticed a group of students standing on a street corner and saw that one of them was attempting to hide a lit cigarette. The officer contacted the 17-year-old boy, who said he was smoking because of stress at home and school. The boy was cited and transported back to Corvallis High School, where an officer confirmed his identity and released him to school officials.

Initiating a false report: 2:25 p.m., 4400 block Northwest Highland Drive, Corvallis. School officials at Crescent Valley High School reported they had detained a 14-year-old boy for pulling a fire alarm. The boy was issued a citation for initiating a false report and disorderly conduct and released to his mother.

Prowler: 8:12 p.m., 300 block North Seventh Street, Monroe. A caller reported seeing a man standing on her side porch. The man was reportedly looking into the sliding door window of her house, then ran off the deck and into the back yard. Deputies found no footprints or anyone matching the man's description in the area.

Thursday, Feb. 14

Theft: 9:41 a.m., 400 block Northwest Elks Drive, Corvallis. A 14-year-old girl at Lincoln Elementary School reportedly came to school with an unused needle from a syringe. An officer questioned her, and she initially said she found it on a playground but later admitted she stole it from a doctor's office. The girl was cited for third-degree theft.

Public assist: 4:50 p.m., 300 block Southeast Park Avenue, Corvallis. A woman and her daughter came into the law enforcement center to report a confrontation with a city bus driver on Feb. 6. The woman was advised to report the incident to the transit department because it was not a criminal issue.

Friday, Feb. 15

Human waste: 1:51 a.m., 1400 block Northwest Monroe Avenue, Corvallis. An officer on foot patrol of Cobblestone Square observed a man behind some bushes who was urinating. The man was given a citation and released.
