Northwestern University, Evanston, Ill. - Victoria Larson, daughter of Erik and Ann Larson, has received a Bachelor of Arts in political science from Northwestern University Judd A. and Marjorie Weinberg College of Arts and Sciences.
Military news
• Army National Guard Pvt. Paul T. Merten has graduated from basic infantry training at Fort Benning, Columbus, Ga. Merten is a 1997 graduate of Crescent Valley High School.
OSU fraternity receives honors
Sigma Alpha Epsilon national fraternity at Oregon State University, ORAL, was recently named as a Chapter Achievement Award winner. The Chapter Achievement award designates ORAL as one of the top 20 Chapters in the nation. There are currently 224 chapters on campuses across the United States.
The Oregon State chapter also received the Peavy Plaque at the spring OSU Greek awards banquet. This award recognizes OSU-SAE as the most improved fraternity at Oregon State. The Oregon State chapter also was awarded the first place trophy for the OSU blood drive.
Gupta receives Rensselaer Medal
Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Troy, N.Y. - Riti Gupta, a student at Crescent Valley High School is this year's recipient of the Rensselaer Medal. The award is given to students who have distinguished themselves in mathematics and science. To receive the medal, the student must be a junior in high school and be the school's single most promising science and mathematics student.
College honor roll
Andrew Luoma, a 2005 graduate of Crescent Valley High School and a student at the University of California, Davis, has been named to the Dean's Honor List for the spring quarter 2008. Luoma is majoring in chemical engineering at U.C. Davis and is the son of Alison Smith and Daniel Luoma of Corvallis.
