URBACH, DAVID GEORGE

URBACH, DAVID GEORGE

A 35-year-old Monroe man is facing 2½ months in jail after pleading guilty to multiple felonies in a child pornography case.

David George Urbach was sentenced Friday morning in Benton County Circuit Court by Judge David S. Connell after agreeing to a plea deal with prosecutors.

Wearing shackles and striped jailhouse scrubs, Urbach pleaded guilty to five counts of encouraging child sexual abuse in the second degree, a charge related to possessing or viewing sexually explicit images of minors. Five additional counts were dismissed as part of the plea agreement.

Each of the charges was a Class C felony carrying a maximum penalty of up to five years in prison.

Urbach was sentenced to 20 days in jail on each count, with three of the sentences to be served consecutively and two concurrently, meaning he will serve a total of 60 days on the charges. He was also given five years of supervised probation, fined $1,000, required to register as a sex offender and ordered to have no contact with minor females.

He may also have to pay restitution, which is being requested by some of the victims in the case. The judge left that question open for 90 days.

In addition, Urbach pleaded guilty to probation violations related to two previous convictions, one for second-degree disorderly conduct and the other for methamphetamine possession. He was given a six-month driver’s license suspension and assessed a $25 fee in those cases and ordered to serve an additional 15 days for a total of 75 days behind bars.

Urbach has been held in the Benton County Jail on $300,000 bail since his arrest by Benton County sheriff’s deputies on Sept. 8.

Yamhill County Deputy District Attorney Holly Winter represented the state in the case because the Benton County District Attorney’s Office had a conflict.

Danielle O’Brien of Eugene represented Urbach. Because Urbach has no source of income, Judge Connell waived attorneys’ fees in the case.
