Benton County Circuit Court Judge David B. Connell on Monday sentenced an Adair Village man to four years and two months in prison as part of a plea deal in a sex abuse case involving a 15-year-old girl.
Jason Nathaniel Sprague, 41, will serve that sentence, as well as an additional two years in prison for violating terms of his probation.
Sprague pleaded guilty to two counts of first-degree online sexual corruption of a child. In exchange, the district attorney’s office dropped charges of rape, incest and third-degree sex abuse.
Sprague was arrested in December 2011 amid accusations that he sent explicit text and online messages to a 15-year-old girl. A woman with whom the girl was living printed out the messages and gave them to police. The messages indicated that Sprague made references to being aroused and asked the teen if she wanted to have sex.
In March 2012, a grand jury indicted him on one count of online sexual corruption, as well as on charges that he had sex with the girl.
Sprague has been on probation since February 2011 for providing marijuana to minors, including the 15-year-old girl.
