Market Orange 1-1-18

The new year gets off to a foggy start, as the National Weather Service in Portland issues a dense fog advisory that's in effect in the mid-valley until noon Monday.

Forecasters said visibility in some locations will be a quarter-mile or less. In addition, the Weather Service said, ground moisture and falling temperatures could lead to icy and slick roadways, compounding any issues created by the low visibility. It will be difficult to see other vehicles and pedestrians, forecasters said, and they urged motorists to use caution and slow down. In addition, they said, drivers should use their headlights and leave plenty of distance ahead of them.
