Nov. 14. 1955 - Nov. 16, 2008
Diane Povis, 53, of North Albany, left us to be with the Lord on Sunday, Nov. 16. Diane was the daughter of Shirley and Edward Mager, born in the old Corvallis hospital on Nov. 14, 1955. She lived in the Corvallis and Albany area all of her life.
Diane attended Corvallis public schools, graduating from Crescent Valley High School in 1973. She worked various places including Hewlett-Packard and Grant Avenue Baptist Church before attending Linn-Benton Community College, where she received her degree as a legal secretary. She worked for Albany attorney Brian Jackson for 10 years. Diane then found enjoyment working for her favorite Beavers at Oregon State University for a number of years. Even through her battle with her illness, she continued to contribute her smile and enthusiasm with everyone she could, by working as a volunteer at the Albany Hospital gift shop.
Family was number one in Diane's life. She was always the organizer and seeing to others' needs. She loved her church, trips to the coast (especially those day trips with her mother), and finding garage sales. Fishing and camping were tops on her list of fun things to do; rarely would anyone come back from an outing with more fish or more excitement to share.
Diane is survived by her loving husband, Rod Povis of Albany; mother, Shirley Mager of Corvallis; father, Ed Mager of Caldwell, Idaho; sons Brian Mills, Scott Kent and wife Jennifer, and Nick Cotter; sister Sherry Smith; brother Tim Mager; stepdaughters Andrea Ellis and Lauren Cummings; half-brother and sister Bruce Mager and Brenda Mager as well as much her beloved granddaughter, three grandsons and numerous nieces and nephews.
All will remember and cherish the perpetual smile Diane shared with everyone, the love of life she had and the strength and determination she possessed to never give up.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 22, at the Northside Church in Corvallis. Refreshments and a celebration of Diane's life will follow.
In lieu of flowers, contributions to the American Lung Association would be appreciated.
