May 3, 1916 - Feb. 21, 2009

Evelyn Haile Price, daughter of Elmer R. Haile and Grace Reckord Haile, was born May 3, 1916, in Towson, Md. She passed away on Feb. 21 in Corvallis at the age of 92.

Evelyn graduated from Towson High School and Goucher College. She was united in marriage to T. Howard Price on June 5, 1937, at the Haile family home in Cockeysville, Md. Her three daughters are Marilyn Carol Willis, Rosemary Evelyn Hundal and Sandra Jean Willis. She has five stepchildren: Thomas Howard Price Jr., Robert Haile Price, George Albert Price, Ruth Ann Yates and Richard Foard Price.

Evelyn moved from Maryland to Corvallis in 1983. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church and Good Samaritan Hospital Auxiliary. She enjoyed volunteer work, travel, hiking, gardening, cooking and reading.

Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in 1981; her brothers, Elmer Rathbun Haile and Walter R. Haile; her sisters, Margaret E. Haile and Genevieve Kemper; and stepgreat-grandchild Deric Davis. She is survived by her daughters; a sister, Barbara Chilcoat; eight grandchildren, Laura Morrissey, Jon Willis, Patrick Hundal, Mike Hundal, Evelyn Niklaus, Chenier Hundal, Molly Bell and Heather Giardini; and four great-grandchildren, Caroline Willis, Megan Willis, Dylan Bell and Bailey Bell. She is also survived by 13 stepgrandchildren, 30 stepgreat-grandchildren, and four stepgreat-great-grandchildren.

A memorial service took place Sunday, Feb. 22, in Corvallis at Timberhill Place, 989 N.W. Spruce St. A private inurnment and second family service will be in Maryland this spring.
