Jeffery William Bennett died Wednesday, Aug. 20, at Ellendale Home in Dallas, Ore.
Jeffery was born in Eugene on Sept. 2, 1943, to Francis William and Ella Mae Rogers Bennett. He lived in Marcola until age 3, at which time his family moved to Corvallis. Jeff graduated from Corvallis High School in 1962 and started working for FlowMatcher Corp. as a mechanical assembly technician. He worked there for the next 20 years. After FlowMatcher Corp., he was employed by Intelledex, a Corvallis robotics company, and Sealy and Hyde, where he worked as a mechanical assembly person for the remainder of his working life.
Jeff served in the Army in Vietnam and received an honorable discharge in 1967.
Jeff was an avid hunter, fisherman and target shooter. He was a gun enthusiast and an excellent hand loader. In the early 1960s, he assisted in the construction of a hot rod with a Chevy engine that he ran at the various drag strips in the Northwest.
He is survived by his sister, Sandra Taylor and her husband, Bill Taylor, of Corvallis; nephew Timothy Taylor of Corvallis; niece Julie Farrell and her husband, Chris Farrell, of La Quinta, Calif.; and two grandnieces, Taylor Farrell and Kaylee Farrell.
In 1992, he was diagnosed with acoustic neuroma which later developed into Parkinson's disease and dementia.
At his request, no funeral services are planned. Burial will be at Oak Lawn Cemetery. Arrangements are by McHenry Funeral Home.
