Feb. 15, 1921 - May 10, 2009

William Ruben Wavrin passed away May 10 at Heart of the Valley Health Care Center. His daughter Kim Gardner, son James Wavrin, son-in-law Bill Gardner and granddaughter Kelsi Gardner were with him.

William R. Wavrin was born in Trinidad, Colo., on Feb. 15, 1921. He served in the U.S. Navy for 21 years including the Pacific during World War II. He was at the battle of Wake Island. He earned many medals, including the Distinguished Flying Cross.

He is survived by his children, Bill, James, Chris, John, Cheryl, Carol, Jean and Kim; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 16, at Prince of Peace Community Church at 7234 N.E. Arnold Ave. in Adair Village.

Heaven has gained another saint. We love you and will miss you, Dad.
