Joseph Scott Bailey, 38, lost his long battle with epilepsy and died Thursday, May 28, 2009, from a grand mal seizure.
Joe grew up in Corvallis, lived in Portland for many years, and was a Bend resident for the past two years. Joe graduated from Crescent Valley High School in 1989, and from Southern Oregon University in Ashland in 1993. After graduation, Joe went to Poland and taught English as a second language at Nicholas Copernicus University in Torun. While there he met his beautiful wife, Maya. In 1999, they moved to Portland.
Joe worked as a technical writer for McAfee in Hillsboro for several years, and more recently for PGP Corporation, based in San Francisco, telecommuting from his home in Bend.
Joe enjoyed skiing, hiking, fishing and riding his bike. He loved nature and being with his family.
Joe leaves his wife, Maya; two beautiful young daughters, Nina 7, and Tessa, 1; his parents, Bill and Bertie Isaacs Bailey; his sister, Julia Aimonetto; two nephews, Tyler and Michael; a niece, Sarah; his mother-in-law, Danuta Achrem; many other relatives; and many friends.
A funeral service will take place at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 3 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Vancouver, Wash. Burial will follow at Mother Joseph Cemetery in Vancouver.
