John Carl Campbell was born to Alfred and Zoa Campbell on April 20, 1920, on a small farm a few miles northwest of Wilsey, Kan. He attended grade school there and graduated from Wilsey High School in 1937. John received a bachelor's degree in agriculture engineering from Kansas State University. He married Marie Hagen in 1941 and had four sons with her: Rick, Terry, Chris and Vic. He divorced Marie in 1978. He married Roberta "Bobbi" L. Devoe in 1980.
John received many honors from his engineering career of 38 years at different universities across the nation. He is listed in the "Who's Who in Science and Engineering" and "Who's Who in America." For his last eight years at Oregon State University he served as safety director. He also had many outside projects. He was an author of five books and worked with Bobbi as genealogists on their family histories. Their books can be found at Mormon Family Libraries across the country.
John and Bobbi traveled in many countries around the globe enjoying different cultures and their peoples. John served his country as a Captain in the U.S. Army from 1942 to 1946 and was in the Philippines during the end of World War II.
Together John and Bobbi have seven children, 10 grandchildren and soon-to-be four great-grandchildren. John was a very loving person to his family and friends and will be greatly missed by everyone. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Apache Junction Mortuary, 480-982-7721.
