Marlene Ellen Peterson, 71, of Philomath and Corvallis, died Wednesday, May 30, in Portland. She was in the process of moving to Vancouver, Wash., to be close to her daughter.

She was born July 6, 1935, in Sioux Falls, S.D., to Opal and Ralph Myers.

Marlene was married to Robert Lee Peterson on April 3, 1955, in Sioux Falls, S.D. They moved to Philomath in 1955.

Marlene and Robert operated The Peterson Tree Farm, where they lived for more than 45 years, located on the Alsea Highway in Philomath.

She was a member of College United Methodist Church in Philomath, where she also loved attending the "Grannygirls craft club."

Marlene is survived by daughter Katherine and husband Bob Carr of Vancouver, Wash.; daughter-in-law Jami Peterson of Albany; four grandchildren, Geoff and Diana Peterson of Woodburn, Scott and Tiffany Carr of Tampa, Fla., Becky and Shawn Bergin of Yacolt, Wash., and Cyrena Carr of Des Moines, Iowa; four great-grandchildren; and godson Chad Stephens of Keizer.

Marlene was preceded in death by husband Robert Lee Peterson, son Steven Wayne Peterson, her parents, and brothers Harold Myers and Melvin Myers.

No services will be held.

Arrangements are under the direction of Oregon Cremation.
