Bernyce Maie Fulton, 88, died Tuesday, Nov. 18, in Centralia. Bernyce resided in Centralia for the past 11 years after moving from Corvallis.
She was born Nov. 24, 1919, in Minneapolis, Minn., to Walter and Claudia Graben. The family moved to Seattle in 1934, and she graduated from Queen Anne High School in 1937. She married George Noble Fulton on Nov. 8, 1941. He served in the United States Army during World War II with a combat tour of duty in Europe under General George Patton.
Following the war, they returned to Seattle, where their two daughters, Judith and Janet, were born. In 1959, they moved to Corvallis, where they resided for 38 years. Bernyce worked for much of her career as a legal secretary, while her husband worked in the lumber industry. He died in 1996 in Corvallis. They enjoyed 53 years of loving married life together.
Bernyce enjoyed travel, and she and George spent many happy days on yearly vacations to Southern California and Hawaii. She volunteered for RSVP, and her skill with words made her an expert at crossword puzzles. She loved to read in her leisure time, and also enjoyed a membership in the Washington Old Time Fiddlers Association, where she was a hand-clapping supporter.
She is survived by her daughters, Judith Loney of Portland and Janet Fulton-Perkins of Winlock. She also has two grandchildren, Jeff Loney of Oregon City and Diane Chalmers of Portland, and one great-grandchild, Lucy Loney. She was preceded in death by her sister, Barbara Stone of Tacoma.
A private memorial service is being held by the family. Memorials can be sent to a charity of choice.
