Raymond Nicholas Dimmitt died peacefully Wednesday following complications from Shy-Drager Syndrome. He enjoyed 56 years of marriage with Nancy Dimmitt. He was a devoted husband and a loving father.
He was born in Escalon, Calif., and was a captain on the fire department for the city of Vernon, Calif., where he worked for more than 20 years and was also a firefighter at Disneyland in Anaheim, Calif., for many years. After retirement in 1985, he and his wife, Nancy, moved to Blodgett where they built a home and lived there ever since.
He was a member of the Blodgett-Summit Volunteer Fire Department and was the chairman of its Fire Board.
Ray is survived by Nancy and their two children, son Nicholas J. Dimmitt, of Bangkok Thailand and daughter Julie Anne Tomlin, of Beaverton, and two grandchildren, Raymond Richard Dimmitt and Ramet Robert Dimmitt. He is also survived by brothers Richard P. Dimmitt and Gerald Dimmitt and sisters Charlotte Shearer and Helen Eaton.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made to the Blodgett-Summit Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 513 Blodgett, Oregon 97326, the Shy-Drager Syndrome/Multiple System Atrophy Support Group, P.O. Box 279 Coupland, Texas 78615, or another meaningful organization.
