Ella Knight, 74, of Philomath died Wednesday at her home. She was born in Elizabethton, Tenn., to C.C. and Pearl Collins. She was raised in Tennessee, and married Larry Knight on Dec. 11, 1951, in Aiken S.C. Larry was in the Marines and they were stationed in Norfolk, Va. They later moved to Florida, in 1953, then to North Carolina briefly before returning to Florida, and living in Indiantown from 1959 to 1966. They lived for one year in Colville, Wash., before coming to Corvallis in 1967. After returning to Tennessee in 1976, they moved back to Florida for 29 years, finally coming to Philomath in 2007.

Ella made beautiful crocheted dolls and afghans. She loved sewing and helped the American Legion Auxiliary with projects. She loved gardening and flowers. The Knights helped start group living homes for the Association for Retarded Citizens.

She is survived by husband, Larry, of Philomath; children Robin and her husband, Brian McLean, of La Belle, Fla., Randy and his wife, Alicia Knight, of Corvallis, and Ronnie Knight of Philomath; grandchildren Brian, Kimberly, Randy Jr., Joseph and Ariana; and five great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Friday, March 13, at McHenry Funeral Home. A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Monday, March 16, at McHenry Funeral Home. Pastor Ron Johnson will officiate.
