July 30, 1934 — September 5, 2017
Karleen Diana (Markussen) Luster was born on her parent’s second anniversary, July 30, 1934 in San Francisco, California, where she lived until she was a senior in high school.
She attended Oregon State College, studying accounting, where she met and later married the love of her life, Jim Luster. They were married on June 12, 1955.
Karleen and Jim raised their four daughters in Albany, attended St Mary’s Church, and were active members of the community. Karleen was very involved in her daughters’ activities where she was the PTA President, Brownies and Girl Scout Leader, 4-H Leader, 4-H Summer Camp Craft Director, and multiple other roles supporting her children, husband, and their every activity.
She was a wonderful, warm, loving mom and Grammy, who lived for her family.
Most recently, Karleen enjoyed visiting, sewing, crafting, and playing marbles, bridge, pinochle, and bunco.
She greeted every day and every person with a smile, and she will be greatly missed.
Karleen is survived by her daughters, Diana O’Bryan of Albany, Debbie Luster of Corvallis, Donna Young and husband Don of Albany, and Darlene Lewis and husband Osia of Nashville, Tennessee. She is also survived by her six grandchildren, Zac (and bride Sara), Karsen, and Elliot O’Bryan, Brady Young, and Marvin and Kiana Lewis.
Karleen is preceded in death by her husband, Jim Luster and son-in-law Bill O’Bryan.
A celebration of Karleen’s life will be held at a later date.
