March 29, 1941 — December, 16, 2017

Linda Archibald passed away December 16, 2017, of heart failure at the Samaritan Evergreen Hospice House.

Linda was born in Burns, Oregon, to Dick and Jane Sutherland. She lived in Burns, Baker City, The Dallas, and Yakima, Washington, before moving to Bandon. While in Bandon, she was on the Honor Roll, Student National Honor Society, Student Body President, Varsity Cheerleader and Cranberry Festival Queen. After graduating from Bandon High School, she attended Oregon State, where she was a cheerleader. She also attended Riverside Community College and graduated from Oregon College of Education with a teaching degree.

She taught high school English and P.E. at Willamina, moved to Hood River, then to Corvallis where she worked at Linn-Benton Community College and finally retired from Oregon State University's Printing and Mailing department.

In Corvallis, she met and married Max Archibald.

Linda was a big Beavers fan. She loved to attend OSU football and bowl games and enjoyed tailgating with family and friends. She loved her annual trips to the island of Kauai in Hawaii, where she enjoyed swimming in the ocean, lying on the beach and reading books. After a day on the beach, she would enjoy a glass of wine on the lanai while looking at the ocean and people watching.

Linda was always kind to other people, putting others first and herself second; she loved making people happy.

Linda is survived by her husband, Max; beloved dog, Bailey; son, Travis Neal; brothers, Ron (Carol) Sutherland, Scott Sutherland; sister, Lisa (Charles) Carldwell; in-laws, John and Jo Archibald, Royce and Sheri Hagelstein, Mary and Kristi Agran; nieces and nephews, Brent, McKinley, Hailey, Tara, Cleo, Sky, Emerson, and Avery.

She is preceded in death by her parents and brother, Bob.

She will be dearly missed.

At this time, no services are planned.
