Margaret Jane Anderson, 89, of Corvallis passed away peacefully of natural causes on Tuesday, Sept. 25, 2012, at West Hills Assisted Living and Retirement in Corvallis.
She was born Margaret Jane McPherren on Nov. 17, 1922, in Albany, where she lived until she graduated from high school in 1940. She met and married Jay W. Slater in 1942. Jay was killed in action during the war in September of 1944, and a few months later their son, James, was born. Margaret loved being a mother and raising her son. She also kept very busy in the community and church.
Margaret married Marlyn “Andy” Anderson in 1965. They operated H&L Machine Works in Philomath for more than 20 years, and loved to travel the world.
Margaret enjoyed her family, flowers, birds, traveling and playing the piano.
Margaret is survived by her son, James A. Slater of Loomis, Calif.; granddaughters Trisha (Robert) Jonientz of Fall City, Wash., and Valerie (Lonnie) Gammel of Eagle, Idaho; great-granddaughter Kendra Omoth of Longview, Wash.; and sister Nola Kidd of Colorado Springs, Colo.
She was preceded in death by her husbands; her brother, Edward McPherren; and sister Marion Smith.
No service will be held.

Margaret will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her.
