Nora Jean (Grisham) Sowers, age 83, of Lebanon, passed away from complications of cancer at the home of her son, Harold Sowers on December 24, 2017 surrounded by her family.
She was born February 10, 1934 to Floyd Willard Grisham and Arleta O. Kanoff in Boise, Idaho. She had four siblings — Bonnie, Doris, Robert, James.
Nora met Harold G Sowers in 1957 in Bandon, Oregon, marrying him in Stevenson, Washington. She had six children, Jean (Sahara), Nancy, Ellen, Harold, Robert and Susan.
The family moved several times over the years from Arizona, to California, then back to Oregon where they stayed and raised their children in Prineville. They moved to Lebanon in the 1980’s.
Nora was a hard worker, a great cook, a good friend and a loving, dedicated mother and grandmother.
She spent most of her life working with elderly people in nursing homes, worked at Willamette Manor and also had a few housekeeping jobs.
Her passion in life was her animals. She had several birds, a number of cats and dogs throughout her life.
She was a jovial happy person, loved her grandchildren deeply and her vintage television shows. She loves her family gatherings, always welcoming to her children’s friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Doris; and her two brothers, James and Robert.
She is survived by her sister Bonnie of Nine Miles Falls, Washington; four daughters — Sahara Jean Sowers of Eugene, Nancy(Bob) Alexander of Albany, Ellen(Mike) Peterman of Albany, Susan Sowers of Monmouth; two sons, Harold (Laura)Sowers of Lacomb, Robert Sowers( Chera Myers Elliot) of Prineville; nine grandchildren; and three great- grandchildren.
There will be no services.
