Warren Woodrow “W.W.” Cate, a longtime resident of Oregon, died peacefully at his residence at Gracelen Terrace, on Oct. 21, 2017, in Portland. Warren’s loving and devoted wife of 36 years, Sylvia, was at his side.

Born in Bell, California to Woody and Audra Cate, he was the oldest of their three sons.

Warren and his brothers were raised in Oregon until the family moved to Wickenburg, Arizona, when Warren was a sophomore in high school. In 1956, Warren graduated high school, entered the Marine Corps, and married his high school sweetheart, Sue McDonald.

In the Marine Corps, he was a chaplain’s assistant and a cook, and served in Okinawa, Japan and the Philippines. Warren was honorably discharged in 1958.

Warren and Sue raised two daughters, Tamera Lynn and Teri Sue. Warren's first wife, Sue, passed away from a brain aneurysm and was laid to rest in January of 1979.

Warren met Sylvia Owen in Salem and they were married May 23, 1981, in Reno, Nevada.

Warren worked for Teledyne Wah Chang Albany for 31 years, as an industrial millwright.

In his off hours, he had many loves and interests including spending time with family, especially family dinners, camping, muzzle loaders, hunting and fishing, tinkering with everything, farming and gardening, singing hymns in church, traveling, riding his motorcycle, listening to country music, photography, reading nature books, cooking and saving recipes, watching John Wayne movies, "The Waltons" and "Hee Haw," clam digging, saltwater fish tanks, and rare birds.

He is survived by his wife, Sylvia; brothers Glen and Clair; children Tamera, Teri Sue, William, Scott, and Sheila; grandchildren Matthew, Jakob, Lucas, Sabrina, Ashley, Koren, Brandon, Nicholas, Hailey, and Chloe.

Arrangements are with Huston Jost Funeral Home of Lebanon.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First Baptist Church Youth Group, Lebanon.

A service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 18, 2017, at First Baptist Church, 211 East Vine Street, Lebanon, Ore., 97355.
