Tickets are available for Oregon State University’s commencement ceremony, which will feature first lady Michelle Obama.
The university announced Tuesday that tickets for the June 17 commencement can be reserved online at www.oregonstate.edu/commencement, and are available for pickup between 4 and 6 p.m. Tuesday, June 12 and Wednesday, June 13 at the Reser Stadium ticket window. Tickets are free.
Photo identification is required to pick up the tickets. Individuals can reserve up to two general admission tickets each.
Tickets have already been distributed to graduating students’ guests and to faculty members.
The ceremony is scheduled to begin at 3:30 p.m. at Reser Stadium.
OSU used to require tickets for commencement when the ceremony was held at Gill Coliseum. The university began holding ceremonies at Reser in 2001, where anyone could attend without a ticket.
The university expects about 33,000 attendees and more than 3,200 participating students at this year’s commencement. Last year, 18,000 guests attended commencement, and 2,500 students participated.
Per Secret Service requests, all attendees and participating graduates and staff will be subjected to airport-style security and be required to pass through a metal detector. Several items will be banned from the stadium, including glass or metal containers, noisemakers, fireworks and weapons.
