This log includes incidents in which there might have been a public disturbance or a risk to the public. Information comes from the Corvallis Police Department and the Benton County Sheriff’s Office. It does not include all calls for service. The status of incidents might change after further investigation. Locations are approximate. People arrested or suspected in crimes are considered innocent until proven otherwise.

Corvallis Police Department


LOCATED MISSING PERSON: 10:37 a.m., Southwest Washington Avenue and Southwest Third Street, Corvallis. An officer checked the status of a California license plate and learned the owner, identified as Xiaomin Sun, had been reported missing out of Alhambra, California. The officer stopped the car and notified Sun of the missing person report. Police contacted the Alhambra Police Department and reported Sun is OK.

INJURY CRASH: 3:36 p.m., 400 block of Southwest Washington Avenue, Corvallis. A man, identified as Scott Stevens, told police he had stopped at the eastbound stop sign at Southwest Fifth Street, looked both ways and proceeded. He collided with a blue Volkswagen Rabbit, which he reportedly said he didn’t see because it blended in with the surroundings. The other driver, who was taken to the hospital for injuries, told police he was traveling north when Stevens’ Mazda 6 hit him. Police cited Stevens for failure to obey a traffic control device.

CAR VERSUS BIKE CRASH: 5:24 p.m., Northwest Circle Boulevard and Northwest Kings Boulevard, Corvallis. A man, identified as Patrick Bottoroff, reportedly told police he was turning into the parking lot of the Jackson’s Food Store when he struck a cyclist in the bike lane. The cyclist was evaluated by medics for injuries but declined to be taken to the hospital. Police cited Bottoroff for failing to yield to a rider in the bike lane.

DUII: 9:46 p.m., Northwest 29th Street and Northwest Walnut Boulevard, Corvallis. Police responded to a car crash and reportedly found a Ford Mustang with all four tires on the north sidewalk, facing the opposite direction of travel. Police arrested the driver, Jeremy Kris Barnts, 21, of Corvallis, for driving under the influence of intoxicants, reckless driving and operating an unsafe vehicle for having bald tires. Barnts reportedly had a blood alcohol concentration of 0.06 percent. Police said over an hour and a half passed between the reported time of the crash and the breath test and that Barnts’ blood alcohol concentration was likely over .08 percent at the time of the crash.


DISORDERLY CONDUCT: 3:30 p.m., 300 block of Southwest Second Street, Corvallis. Police responded to the Post Office for a fight between Michael Sandoval and Bruce Robert Van Houte, 55. Police cited Van Houte, who was reportedly intoxicated, for second-degree disorderly conduct.

ASSAULT: 5:54 p.m., Southwest Third Street and Southwest Jefferson Avenue, Corvallis. Police responded to Dairy Queen for a fight and reportedly determined Patricia Compton punched Mia Jamison multiple times. Jamison was not injured. Police cited Compton for attempted fourth-degree assault, second-degree disorderly conduct and second-degree criminal mischief.

FORGERY: 8:15 p.m., 1030 SW Third Street, Corvallis. Police recovered a cardboard box containing multiple fake $100 and $50 bills from a table at Papa’s Pizza. The manager did not know who brought the box into the restaurant. He said he did not find any counterfeit bills in their cash registers.


STOLEN CAR: 11:43 a.m., 500 block of Southwest Seventh Street, Corvallis. A man reported his 1985 two-tone gold Chevy pickup, as well as $1,000 in motorcycle parts, were stolen from his property.

Benton County Sheriff’s Office


STOLEN TRUCK: 8 a.m., 500 block of South Fifth Street, Monroe. A man reported someone stole his 1990 Toyota truck. The truck is dark grey with teal doors that have a stripe at the bottom.

VANDALISM: 1:30 p.m., 7800 block of Northwest Independence Highway, Albany. A man reported someone used a tractor to damage about $700 worth of goose decoys.


DUII: 12:10 a.m., Highway 34 Bypass and Highway 34, Corvallis. A deputy stopped a car for failing to drive within the lane. The deputy arrested the driver, Ivan Clayton Cole, 53, of Albany, for driving under the influence of intoxicants. Cole reportedly had a blood alcohol concentration of 0.11 percent.

DUII: 6:15 p.m., Highway 20 and Northeast Waterworks Street, Corvallis. Tracey Marie Irwin told deputies she was driving east on the highway when she swerved to avoid a bunny in the road. She lost control of the car, which crashed into a power pole and rolled. Irwin declined to be taken to the hospital and was arrested for driving under the influence of intoxicants.


DUII: 3:55 a.m., Highway 20 and Lilly Hill Road, Blodgett. Obadiah Joseph Slavens, 29, was reportedly driving east on Highway 20 at about 90 miles per hour when he failed to negotiate a curve and crashed into several trees on the north side of the highway. Slavens had minor injuries and declined to be taken to the hospital. He reportedly had a blood alcohol concentration of 0.14 percent.

Oregon State Police


DUII: 2:56 a.m., Third Street and Harrison Boulevard, Corvallis. A trooper saw a car traveling the wrong direction on a one-way street and attempted to stop the vehicle. The car reportedly did not stop at first. When it stopped, the trooper arrested the driver, Kari Jo Atchley, 29, of Tangent, for driving under the influence of intoxicants and reckless driving. Atchley reportedly had a blood alcohol concentration of 0.18 percent.
