TUESDAY, DECEMBER 12
SCAM: 11:56 a.m., 1600 block of Southwest 49th Street, Corvallis. A woman reported she lost $500 in a scam. She said she was contacted via text about a loan and had $800 placed in her bank account. She was instructed to buy $500 in Steam cards from Walmart and provide the company the card codes, which she did. The woman later discovered the $800 had been withdrawn from her account.
DUII: 6:28 p.m., Southwest 35th Street and Southwest Washington Way, Corvallis. Police assisted Oregon State Police troopers with a DUII crash that caused a car fire. Samantha Scott, 26, allegedly crashed the car and was arrested for driving under the influence of intoxicants. Andrew Leitzel allegedly fled from the crash. Scott told police there is an order forbidding her and Leitzel from having contact, which might be why he ran. Police searched the area but did not find Leitzel.
CAR VERSUS PEDESTRIAN CRASH: 9:20 p.m., Northwest Monroe Avenue and Northwest Kings Boulevard, Corvallis. A man reported a car grazed his right leg as he was crossing Monroe Avenue on the east side of the intersection. The man, who was uninjured, said the driver did not stop. Police found the driver using a car description and license plate number. He said he did not recall hitting someone or seeing a pedestrian in the crosswalk. Police did not cite the driver.
