This log includes incidents in which there might have been a public disturbance or a risk to the public. Information comes from the Corvallis Police Department and the Benton County Sheriff’s Office. It does not include all calls for service. The status of incidents might change after further investigation. Locations are approximate. People arrested or suspected in crimes are considered innocent until proven otherwise.

Corvallis Police Department


DRUGS: 7 a.m., 200 block of Southeast Lilly Avenue, Corvallis. A woman reported a man, later identified as Justin Louis Beach, 47, of Corvallis, had approached her near the intersection of Southeast Third Street and Southeast Lilly Avenue and mumbled incoherent words. Beach then reportedly followed the woman to her home and walked around the residence looking inside the windows. Police arrested Beach for second-degree trespass. Jail deputies reportedly found eight pills of oxycodone on Beach.

INJURY CRASH: 11:41 a.m., Northwest Circle Boulevard and Northwest Kings Boulevard, Corvallis. Police determined a 77-year-old Corvallis man was driving east on Northwest Circle Boulevard when he suffered a medical crisis, left the road and struck a traffic light pole. Witnesses reported seeing the man slumped over in his seat prior to impact. The man suffered a broken leg in the crash and was taken to Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center for treatment.

THEFT: 1:24 p.m., 1300 block of Northwest Ninth Street, Corvallis. A man told police he believed the chip on his debit card had been stolen.

ROAD RAGE: 7:15 p.m., Northwest Ninth Street and Northwest Buchanan Avenue, Corvallis. A man told police another driver had been tailgating him so he stopped in the middle of the street and confronted the other driver at his car window. He said the other driver held a handgun in his hand but did not point it. The other driver told police he did not hold the gun in his hand and kept it in an open case in the passenger seat. Police did not charge either driver.


THEFT: 7:15 p.m., 922 Northwest Circle Blvd., Corvallis. Police responded to a shoplifting complaint at Market of Choice. A loss prevention officer reportedly told police that Jerry Michael Wells, 28, had stolen food items and resisted employees when they tried to detain him. Wells also reportedly had a pocketknife in his jacket pocket. Police arrested Wells for third-degree robbery, third-degree theft and carrying a concealed weapon.

CHILD NEGLECT: 8:30 p.m., 5000 block of Southwest Technology Loop, Corvallis. Police cited a man, identified as Craig A. Stevens, 32, of Corvallis, for second-degree child neglect after he reportedly went to Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center for treatment and left his 6-year-old son home alone. The emergency room doctor told Stevens to go home and get his son before being treated. The doctor also called police.


SCAM: 2 p.m., 300 block of Southeast Goodnight Avenue, Corvallis. A man told police that someone, whom he believed to be a woman in Colorado, added him on Facebook. They video chatted and the man exposed his genitals. The other person then told the man that if he did not pay $500, they would post a video of his genitals online. The suspect wanted a money order sent to the Ivory Coast. The suspect’s Facebook account has since been deactivated.

DUII: 11:02 p.m., 2315 NW Ninth Street, Corvallis. Police responded to an attempt to locate for a possible intoxicated driver and contacted Carlos Alberto Gutierrez, 43, of Bakersfield, outside of his car behind the Adult Shop. Police arrested Gutierrez for driving under the influence of intoxicants. Gutierrez reportedly had a blood alcohol concentration of 0.16 percent.

Benton County Sheriff’s Office


METH: 10:26 a.m., Highway 34 and Peoria Road, Corvallis. A deputy stopped a car for failing to obey a traffic control device. A drug detection K-9 alerted to the driver’s side of the car. Police later arrested the driver, Steven Michael Anderson, 46, of Corvallis, for possession of methamphetamine, hindering prosecution and giving false information about insurance.


DUII: 2:20 a.m., Western Boulevard and Southwest Stadium Avenue, Corvallis. A deputy stopped a car for operating without required lights. The deputy arrested the driver, Juliana Moran-Larios, 19, of Corvallis, for driving under the influence of intoxicants. Moran-Larios reportedly had a blood alcohol concentration of 0.15 percent.

Oregon State Police


DUII: 8:42 p.m., Southwest Third Street and Southwest Van Buren Avenue, Corvallis. A trooper stopped a car for multiple traffic violations. The trooper arrested the driver, Susan Patrice Martorello, 49, of Corvallis, for driving under the influence of intoxicants and reckless driving. Martorello reportedly refused to provide a breath sample.

DUII: 10:40 p.m., Northwest 30th Street and Northwest Harrison Boulevard, Corvallis. A trooper stopped a car for operating without required lights. The trooper arrested the driver, Fritz Owen Wilhelm, 55, of Corvallis, for driving under the influence of intoxicants. Wilhelm did not have alcohol in his system. A drug recognition expert reportedly determined Wilhelm was under the influence of a central nervous system depressant.
