TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 27
ASSAULT: 12:18 p.m., 2600 block of Northwest Fireweed Place, Corvallis. Police responded for a domestic assault. A man said his girlfriend attempted to strangle him, scratched him, punched him and kicked him. Annika Erin Hughes Benson, 19, of Philomath, is charged with harassment and attempted strangulation.
SCAM: 3:38 p.m., 300 block of Southeast Bridgeway, Corvallis. A woman told police she placed an ad on Craigslist to rent a room. An individual responded and assumed they had been selected as the next tenant and sent a check to the woman for $3,500. When the woman informed the person she would not rent a room to them, the person told her to cash the check and send a money order back in return. The woman knew it was a scam and gave the check to police.

SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 24
COCAINE: 11:04 p.m., Northwest Independence Highway and Northeast Pettibone Drive, Albany. A deputy saw a car parked on the side of the road. The deputy approached the car and reportedly saw the driver pushing a white powdery substance across the glass screen of a cellphone. The deputy also reportedly saw a digital scale, small plastic baggies and other drug paraphernalia in the car. The deputy cited the driver, Chaz Ray Melton, 19, of Albany, with delivery of cocaine and possession of cocaine.
MONDAY, FEBRUARY 26
DUII: 8:20 a.m., Southwest B Avenue and Southwest Fourth Street, Corvallis. A deputy arrested SaraAnn Janet Lum, 26, of Corvallis, for driving under the influence of intoxicants. A drug recognition expert reportedly determined Lum was under the influence of cannabis.
HIT AND RUN: 10:24 a.m., 4700 block of Southwest 53rd Street, Corvallis. A woman reported her dog had been struck by an unknown car and the car did not stop. The dog required a full leg amputation. Deputies retrieved a portion of a front grill found in the road after the dog was struck.
