This log includes incidents in which there might have been a public disturbance or a risk to the public. Information comes from the Corvallis Police Department, the Benton County Sheriff’s Office and the Oregon State Police. It does not include all calls for service. The status of incidents might change after further investigation. Locations are approximate. People arrested or suspected in crimes are considered innocent until proven otherwise.

Corvallis Police Department

THURSDAY, OCT. 26

CAR THEFT: 5:20 p.m., 1600 block of Southwest 49th Street, Corvallis. A man reported that someone had broken into his car and stolen his wallet.

BURGLARY: 7:07 p.m., 200 block of Northwest 15th Street, Corvallis. A man reported Brian Robert Barley, 31, of Beaverton, chased him into his home and attempted to attack him. The alleged victim was able to escape. Police arrested Barley for first-degree burglary and second-degree disorderly conduct.

FRIDAY, OCT. 27

ATTEMPTED ROBBERY: 4:33 a.m., 2400 block of Northwest Monroe Avenue, Corvallis. A man reported he was walking to Subway with friends when a woman started following them and accused the man of stealing her phone. The man said the woman, later identified as Pevonka Wonka, 36, of Corvallis, reached over his shoulder and grabbed his iPhone. The man said he was able to hold onto the phone. Wonka then reportedly raised a coffee mug in her hand and threatened the group. Police arrested Wonka for third-degree robbery and second-degree disorderly conduct and took her to the Benton County Jail.

STOLEN TRAILER: 8:24 a.m., 1100 block of Northwest Circle Boulevard, Corvallis. A man reported a trailer belonging to TG Gerding Construction was stolen. The trailer held multiple tools and constituted a total loss of more than $12,000, the man reported.

STOLEN MOTORCYCLE: 12:55 p.m., 100 block of Northwest Eighth Street, Corvallis. A man reported his Suzuki 750 motorcycle was stolen from the back patio of his apartment.

ASSAULT: 9:59 p.m., 1600 block of Northwest Division Street, Corvallis. Police arrested Scott Ernest Bruyere, 52, for attempted first-degree assault, menacing, unlawful use of a weapon and reckless endangering after he allegedly threatened to kill a woman and threw a screwdriver at her face. The alleged victim evaded the screwdriver and was not injured. Police took Bruyere to the Benton County Jail.

SATURDAY, OCT. 28

VIOLENT CONDUCT: 1:02 a.m., 2900 block of Northwest Harrison Boulevard, Corvallis. Police cited Malik Anthony White, 22, for violent conduct after White allegedly punched a car and a bus shelter.

VIOLENT CONDUCT: 3:08 a.m., 2000 block of Northwest Monroe Avenue, Corvallis. Police cited Manase Kanasa Hungalu, 22, of Corvallis, and Abdinasir Ali Shido, 21, for violent conduct.

STOLEN MOTORCYCLE: 1100 block of Northwest 10th Street, Corvallis. A man reported his Yamaha FZ6R motorcycle was stolen from outside his home.

THEFT: 9:08 p.m., 700 block of Northeast Circle Boulevard, Corvallis. Four men reportedly stole more than $100 worth of merchandise from Spirit Halloween. The suspects were not identified.

SUNDAY, OCT. 29

ANIMAL NEGLECT: 2:12 a.m., 2700 block of Northwest Harrison Boulevard, Corvallis. Police responded to a report of a dog in a car. An officer reportedly found a six-month old puppy confined to a wire crate that was covered in feces and lacked access to water. The officer spoke with the dog’s owner but reportedly discontinued the case due to lack of a culpable mental state.

STOLEN CAR: 8:58 a.m., 400 block of Northwest 23rd Street, Corvallis. A woman reported her Hyundai Accent was stolen from behind her sorority house.

STOLEN CAR: 9:51 a.m., 1200 block of Northwest 13th Street, Corvallis. A man reported his Subaru Impreza was stolen from his driveway.

TRESPASSING: 12:16 p.m., 1300 block of Southwest Maple Tree Court, Corvallis. The residents of an apartment stated they returned home about midnight the night before to find their front door kicked in and two men in costumes running from the back door. Nothing was missing from the apartment.

FRIDAY, OCT. 27

DUII: 10:32 p.m., 2500 block of Northwest Ninth Street, Corvallis. A deputy responded to the parking lot of Arby’s for a report of a man passed out in a car. The deputy arrested the man, Sean Paul Fleming, 26, of Corvallis, for driving under the influence of intoxicants. Fleming reportedly had a blood alcohol concentration of 0.17 percent.

SATURDAY, OCT. 28

METH: 6:43 p.m., Northeast Second Street and Northwest Polk Avenue, Corvallis. A deputy stopped a car for reportedly committing multiple traffic violations. The deputy arrested the driver, Michael Lee Betker, 53, of Jefferson, for driving under the influence of intoxicants. The deputy reportedly seized what appeared to be methamphetamine and cannabis from inside Betker’s car. Betker was taken to the Benton County Jail.

DUII: 11:10 p.m., Southwest 35th Street and Western Boulevard, Corvallis. A deputy stopped a car for reportedly failing to drive within its lane. The deputy arrested the driver, Joshua Kekoa Hiwatashi, 20, of Corvallis, for driving under the influence of intoxicants. Hiwatashi reportedly had a blood alcohol concentration of 0.08 percent.

SUNDAY, OCT. 29

DUII: 3:07 a.m., Northwest Harrison Boulevard and Northwest Third Street, Corvallis. A deputy stopped a car for offensive littering. The deputy arrested the driver, Alexandros Andreas Simotas, 20, of Portland, for driving under the influence of intoxicants. A drug recognition expert reportedly determined Simotas was under the influence of cannabis.

Oregon State Police

SATURDAY, OCT. 28

DUII: 10:06 p.m., Northwest 13th Street and Northwest Harrison Boulevard, Corvallis. Troopers responded to a noninjury crash and arrested the alleged at-fault driver, Parker William McManus, 18, of Salem, for driving under the influence of intoxicants. McManus reportedly did not have alcohol in his system and declined to be evaluated by a drug recognition expert.

SUNDAY, OCT. 29

DUII: 2:40 a.m., Southwest 14th Street and Southwest Campus Way, Corvallis. A trooper stopped a car that was allegedly driving without its lights on. The trooper arrested the driver, Olivia Marlies Evans, 20, of Silverton, for driving under the influence of intoxicants. Evans reportedly had a blood alcohol concentration of 0.08 percent.

DUII: 2:58 a.m., 100 block of Southwest 26th Street, Corvallis. A trooper stopped a car for an unspecified reason. The trooper arrested the driver, Kain Jared Pfennig, 26, of Salem, for driving under the influence of intoxicants and reckless driving. Pfennig reportedly had a blood alcohol concentration of 0.14 percent. The deputy took Pfennig to the Benton County Jail.

DUII: 3:29 a.m., Northwest Fourth Street and Northwest Jackson Street, Corvallis. A trooper stopped a car for allegedly making an illegal U-turn. The trooper arrested the driver, Shila Noel Campbell, 31, of Corvallis, for driving under the influence of intoxicants. Campbell reportedly had a blood alcohol concentration of 0.16 percent.
