FAILURE TO REPORT AS SEX OFFENDER: 11:15 a.m., 180 NW Fifth Street, Corvallis. Police cited Joseph Lee Reyes, 30, for failing to report as a sex offender.
SCAM: 2:30 p.m., 3400 block of Northwest Walnut Boulevard, Corvallis. A woman reported a man named Mark contacted her via phone and computer saying her bank account had been emptied. The man said he could get the money back for her if she sent him money. The woman withdrew $35,000 from her bank account and deposited it into various accounts at different banks that Mark instructed her to go to. An officer contacted Mark, but he would not answer questions and hung up the phone.
CRASH: 4:40 p.m., Northwest 23rd Street and Northwest Harrison Boulevard, Corvallis. Police responded to a car versus bicycle crash. The cyclist said he had stopped at the crosswalk on Harrison Boulevard and waited for traffic to stop before starting to cross the street. He was struck by an eastbound car. The driver, Katie Cornell, said she had stopped behind two other cars for people in the crosswalk and started driving again with the traffic in front of her. Cornell said she did not see the cyclist until he was right in front of her. The cyclist had minor injuries. Police cited Cornell for driving while suspended and failing to yield for a pedestrian in a crosswalk.
