This log includes incidents in which there might have been a public disturbance or a risk to the public. Information comes from the Corvallis Police Department and the Benton County Sheriff’s Office. It does not include all calls for service. The status of incidents might change after further investigation. Locations are approximate. People arrested or suspected in crimes are considered innocent until proven otherwise.

FAIL TO OBEY TRAFFIC CONTROL DEVICE: 7:58 a.m., Northwest 36th Street and Northwest Lincoln Avenue. Police reported that Katherine Lacy, whose age and hometown were not included in the report, failed to stop at a stoplight as she was traveling east on Lincoln Avenue. Her vehicle was struck on Northwest 36th Street by a southbound vehicle driven by Christopher Matthews. Lacy suffered minor injuries in the collision, and her vehicle was towed from the scene. Matthews was not injured.


ACCIDENT WITH INJURY AND MARIJUANA: 8:06 p.m., Northwest Circle Boulevard and Northwest Witham Hill Drive. Melissa Hartwig, 19, of Blodgett, was driving east on Northwest Circle in a Toyota Camry when she drifted into the westbound lane. The Camry collided with a westbound Acura Integra driven by Tyler Varland, 25, of Corvallis. Hartwig suffered minor injuries; Varland complained of neck pain. Hartwig was cited for failure to maintain her traffic lane. Witnesses said that Varland’s passenger, David Fleming, 22, of Corvallis, appeared to be trying to hide marijuana in the bushes along the road. An officer found the marijuana and Fleming was cited for a charge of possession of marijuana and given a warning for littering.

NONINJURY ACCIDENT: 5:44 p.m., Northwest Harrison Boulevard and Northwest 16th Street. April Robinson, 19, of Lebanon, was cited for a charge of making a dangerous left turn after she moved into the right lane of Northwest Harrison Boulevard while attempting to turn left, colliding with a vehicle in an adjacent lane.

BURGLARY: 5:10 p.m., 2000 block of Northwest Taylor Avenue. Jessica Melone, 19, of Corvallis, reported that an unidentified person entered her residence and stole her teal-colored cruiser-style bicycle.


DUII: 12:55 a.m., Northwest 28th Street and Northwest Fillmore Avenue. Aaron Asunsolo, 18, of Philomath, was arrested for a charge of DUII after an officer observed her bump into a parked vehicle while leaving an apartment complex parking lot and drive away, failing to signal a turn and for having a nonfunctioning license plate light. Asunsolo failed field sobriety tests, and her blood alcohol content was measured at 0.10 percent.

DUII: 12:35 a.m., Northwest 27th Street and Northwest Grant Avenue. After a police investigation, Rodion A. Samoilov, 20, of Canby, was arrested for a charge of DUII and booked into the Benton County Jail. Samoilov’s blood alcohol level was measured at 0.13 percent. He also was charged with reckless driving, reckless endangering and being a minor in possession of alcohol.


MYSTERY ASSAULT: 1:52 p.m., Northwest 21st Street and Northwest Jackson Avenue. Luke Collins, 19, of Grants Pass, reported that he was involved in a fight with four or five males at 11 p.m. Sept. 19. Collins said he intervened when his friend, Taylor Griggs, 19, of Corvallis, was jumped by the males and suffered a broken fibula. Collins could not describe the group of males, other than that they wore baggy clothing.


NONINJURY ACCIDENT: 10:49 a.m., Northwest Walnut Boulevard and Northwest Rolling Green Drive. Police issued a citation to Bette Moyer, 92, of Corvallis, for making a dangerous left turn. She turned left to head south on Northwest Rolling Green Drive, and although the light was green, police said that she had not waited for the green arrow. Her Pontiac collided with the driver’s side of a green Jeep Cherokee driven by Jerry Saveriano, 65, of Corvallis. He had been driving east on Northwest Walnut Boulevard. Both parties were wearing their seat belts and were not injured.

DUII: 12:02 a.m., Northwest Third Street and Northwest Van Buren Avenue. John Richard Streblow, 27, of Corvallis, was stopped for having no front license plate and for failing to signal when exiting the road. He later was arrested for a charge of DUII after an evaluation determined that he was impaired, although his blood alcohol content was .06 percent. He also was cited for possession of less than an ounce of marijuana.

    There is no stoplight at 36th and Lincoln. There is, however, a stop sign.
