TUESDAY, SEPT. 5
FRAUD: 2:56 p.m., 400 block of Southwest Monroe Avenue, Corvallis. A woman reported she had been contacted by mail about winning the lottery in another state. She said she sent money on three separate occasions in August, totaling $400. She told police she started to become suspicious. There are no suspects.
THEFT: 3:01 p.m., 1000 block of Southwest Adams Drive, Corvallis. A man reported someone entered his home through an unlocked door during the night and stole a laptop from his kitchen table. No suspects were identified.
RECKLESS BURNING: 10:46 p.m., 1700 block of Northeast Four Acre Place, Corvallis. Police responded to a wildfire south of Home Depot on the south side of the railroad tracks. Officers contained the fire before contacting a woman, Staci R. Sheppard, 54, who was nearby. She said she had a small campfire and one of the sparks flew onto the grass and caused the fire. Police cited Sheppard for reckless burning.
