Stories about animal abuse are hard to read. Sometimes there are happy endings to these stories.
Take Valentino’s hard luck story. I was called about a “rabid cat,” foaming at the mouth, a stray, abandoned and reluctantly went to investigate. The cat was older, not neutered, crawling in fleas and had pus dripping from bad teeth.
The vet shaved his mats, bathed him and suggested he was a lost cause. But there was something about him. Beneath this cats’ rough exterior beat a wonderful, kind heart full of love and longing.
Valentinos’ bad teeth have been pulled. He makes a beeline for any open lap. He’s up for adoption. Those who would like to see him can do so at www.purr.petfinder.
com. There’s a video I took of him there.
Please fix your pets, people. Be kind. The Valentinos of this world depend upon it.
