There is a big problem with packages being stolen from people's doorsteps. One suggestion I recently saw was to buy cameras to spot the thieves.
I have another suggestion that to me seems to be a no-brainer. When UPS, Fed Ex or USPS delivers packages to someone's door, make sure they give it to a real person. The most common practice now is to either leave the package, knock on the door and leave, not knowing if the person is home or not, or leave the package without knocking.
I have come home to find a package by my front door soaking wet from sitting out in the rain. If no one is home a notice could be given as to a good time to redeliver or pick it up at the appropriate office. People may be out of town, or animals could get into it or thieves steal it. I know this would take more time for the delivery person, and they would get more work done if they didn't have to do this, but at what risk?
