The members of Corvallis City Council are going to shoot themselves in the foot yet again. Back in the mid 1970s they "talked" about doing something about the Van Buren Street bridge. "Talk." Now we have traffic jams that can go back as far as Kings Boulevard,
Back in the mid-1980s Corvallis businesses and the City Council were begging people to stay and shop and eat in Corvallis. Now Corvallis has many places to shop and eat but did the City Council do anything about parking? Again, "talk."
Now they are voting to give the tax money from marijuana to the police, when it needs to go to agencies who deal with and try to help people who are addicted. The City Council would rather behave like the Sheriff of Nottingham back in merry old England in the 1500s and jail the peasant who cannot pay his taxes. Wow, that is helpful. Jail him to make sure he cannot pay his taxes! I'm sure the City Council will not get the analogy but hopefully the voters will!
