Our small, pleasant and aging county neighborhood has rapidly deteriorating streets. For the past year a small group of us has been exploring ways to fix and maintain those streets. We eventually found our only option was to form a special road district. The road district was on last month’s ballot and passed. Without going into all the details involved with forming the district and the duties of that entity, we have credit and many thanks to give:
• Vance Croney, county attorney, who helped at every turn from explaining the laws involved with formation and setup of the road district, setting a tax amount, presenting our project to the county commissioners and just generally holding our hands; always with professionalism and kindness.
• Jeff Doty, supervisor of elections, was a wonderful source of information about what was required to get on the ballot.
• Jim Stouder and Josh Wheeler, with the road district, provided invaluable insight into the actual running of the district.
We were required to present our project to the county commissioners on two occasions. All three ladies were friendly and helpful while still being professional.
All the above made a long, arduous task easier and much more pleasant than it otherwise would have been.
