Regarding the Aug. 16 opinion column by Dana Milbank of The Washington Post: As most of us know, Bernie Sanders won the 2016 Oregon Democratic primary by roughly 10 percentage points (56.24 percent to 42.6 percent). Sanders' widest victory in Oregon was in Benton County roughly (61 to 39 percent) or, in votes, Bernie 11,922 and Clinton 7,465. This would suggest a large percentage of Benton County Dems voted for Bernie.
The article I refer to titled "Dems Must Beware of Berning Out" was a divisive hit piece designed to sow division between Bernie supporters (Our Revolution) and other Democrats. So my question to whoever at the Gazette-Times gave the OK to publish this garbage is, why would you publish it here in Benton County where Benton County Dems and Our Revolution have a wonderful rapport? What's your motivation?? Why seek to sow discord where there is none? Politically motivated? What's up, Gazette-Times? What's your agenda?
