Another recent letter writer has revealed himself to be a modern-day lapdog for the National Rifle Association, dutifully spouting the same scripted but tired bull manure that erupts after another incident of a school or other mass shooting.
These "heroes" portray themselves as responsible gun owners ready to protect us naives from the mentally deranged and/or the tyranny of the government.
Have you noticed that in all these letters not a scintilla of empathy is mentioned for the family and friends of the victims and the wounded? Instead the knee-jerk reaction is calling for more citizens to arm themselves with assault weapons. The Republican Congress is owned by the gun lobby and is spineless to take action to stop the tide of carnage.
Well, at least the students, the teachers and the young are rising up in protest. It is about time.
