During this season of glad tidings, I want to give thanks to and recognize my landlords of 18 years, Thompson and Janet Snyder. I am director of The Habitat Institute, a nonprofit organization devoted to fish and wildlife conservation. Since the institute's beginning, I've been fortunate to rent space in downtown Corvallis from the Snyders.
Landlords tend to have a bad image, but the Snyders have kept their building in great shape and been very generous and kind to me as well. My first lease was for one year at $1 a square foot as I was unsure there would be a second. My rent remained the same since then, which is amazing! I was recently notified that a new rate was due and the increase was only 6 percent. This is truly amazing again.
The Snyders' generosity is almost unheard-of and for the past several years I have been trying to pay their generosity forward. Now, I want to take this opportunity to express my appreciation publicly to the Snyder family for being the kind of landlords that people wish for but rarely get. They really do Corvallis proud!
