Congress may soon consider two bills affecting guns: silencer deregulation and concealed carry. Congress may limit or eliminate debate of these bills, the public surely will not. While preparing to debate consider this:

The constructs of good and evil, of defense and offense, of intention are not intrinsic to a gun. Background checks, licenses and permits, bills before Congress are not intrinsic to a gun.

As we take our positions around the Second Amendment, as we ready our flint-encrusted arguments, as we take a bead on the other fellows’ rhetoric, cling to this truth:

The intrinsic purpose of a gun ... is to kill.
