Regarding the recent City Council meeting on problems in park space: The problem is not the overflow of trash, but the issue of homelessness. You don’t need to simply remove the unsightly trash. You need to recognize that you are dealing with human beings, not detritus that needs to be managed, dealt with, made to disappear. Why are these people so annoying to Mr. Hogg? Is it because they mar the beauty of his park? Or because this isn’t his vision of the American way of life? A solution just might be providing decent shelter for the indigents who are unable to provide for themselves. You don’t choose to be poor. It happens.
