Donald Trump and his fellow science deniers in the White House have ordered the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to stop using words like "vulnerable," "fetus," "transgender," "science-based," and "evidence-based" in its official communications. This order in similar to the ones earlier in the Trump administration forbidding the EPA and the US Department of Agriculture to use the term "global warming."
This reckless and dangerous effort by the Trump administration to censor our public health experts is another example of the ongoing attack on science and scientific inquiry. Denying science-based evidence, creating false doubt about well established scientific facts, putting gag orders on our scientific and medical leaders, and labeling any report which contradicts the Trumpian view of the world as "fake news," is a serious threat to our democratic and open society. This threat must be called out and opposed vigorously.
