Well, it's happened again: A crackpot set off a bomb. Fortunately, only he was hurt. But New York City was very jammed up. He will blame something else, not himself.
We as humans always blame things, not ourselves. Remember Prohibition? Alcohol is evil, some folks drink too much, so we banned alcohol. Did it stop anything? It actually made it worse. After a decade, we repealed the law.
The first murder was done with a cobblestone, a club, a dagger, or by drowning, choking or maybe pushing someone off a cliff. Would banning any of these things stop murder? Of course not. It's the person who commits murder.
We need to identify who these crackpots are to prevent them from doing horrifying and fatal things. A background check is a wise idea, but laws to require them always amount to keeping track of what they used, not just the person.
No poison, bomb or gun ever killed someone without some person's action.
When will we ever learn?
