This is a critical moment for Lebanon schools. We have severe overcrowding in our middle school, serving the very period in which most children are enduring the most difficult years of growing up.
I say that thoughtfully we acknowledge that small class size, small school size — small schools that foster a caring and supportive community of learning and socialization — is a pivotal part of the solution.
I suggest Lebanon North and Lebanon South Middle Schools. Is the Elks building still available as an interim building for a portion of the school population while we consider a more permanent solution? Anywhere else?
This is important. Please consider this option. We see daily the importance of smaller schools in which a healthy learning community thrives, and each child can be known and prepared for a productive life.
