Benton County will hold a workshop on its transportation system plan March 13 at Marys River Grange in Philomath.

Benton County will hold a series of workshops in the coming weeks to inform the public and gather feedback on an update of the county’s transportation system plan.

One of the events will be Tuesday, March 13 at Marys River Grange in Philomath. The workshop will run from 5:30-7:30 p.m. The grange is located at 24707 Grange Hall Road.

County staff will be on hand to provide information about the project, answer questions and accept suggestions on potential improvements to the local transportation network.

Other workshops to be held:

• 5:30-7:30 p.m. March 8 at the Monroe Community Library, 380 N. Fifth St., Monroe.

• 5:30-7:30 p.m. March 15 at North Albany Middle School, 1205 North Albany Road NW, North Albany.

The plan, intended as a framework to guide long-range transportation planning and investment, must be updated periodically to comply with state law. Benton County Public Works Department staff began the latest update in mid-2017 and have drafted a set of tentative goals and objectives.

The aim of the project is to identify and prioritize improvements that will improve connectivity for all transportation modes, support planned land uses and economic development, and reduce reliance on motor vehicles.
