MONDAY, AUG. 7

ASSAULT: A woman reported to Philomath Police at 3:15 p.m. that a female stranger had just hit her in the face at McDonald’s and then left the scene. The media report did not contain further details.

THURSDAY, AUG. 10

DUII: Benton County sheriff deputies arrested 26-year-old James Cobbs III, no city of residence listed, on charges of driving with a suspended license and driving under the influence of intoxicants. The arrest took place after a traffic stop at 1:51 p.m. on Highway 20 about seven miles northwest of Philomath.

FRIDAY, AUG. 11

AGENCY ASSIST: Philomath Police was dispatched at 12:33 p.m. to assist the Benton County Sheriff’s Office with a fatal head-on collision on Walnut Boulevard near Martin Luther King Jr. Park, just west of Corvallis.

WARRANT ARREST: Responding to a request for assistance from Tylor Dixon’s probation officer, Philomath Police arrested the 22-year-old Philomath man on a local municipal court warrant. The arrest took place around 4:30 a.m. at an address on the 24600 block of Stovall Lane.

SUNDAY, AUG. 13

HEROIN: Benton County sheriff deputies arrested 19-year-old Dylan Mendell, no city of residence listed, on a charge of possession of heroin. The arrest took place at 1:37 a.m. on the 32200 block of Powder House Road.

POTENTIAL EXPLOSIVE: Philomath Police contacted the Oregon State Police bomb squad and U.S. Army explosive ordnance disposal specialists for advice after someone brought into the police station an old artillery shell. It was ultimately determined that the shell was inert and not dangerous.

MONDAY, AUG. 14

HEROIN, WARRANTS: Benton County sheriff deputies arrested 26-year-old Jacob Ueland, no city of residence listed, on two warrants and additional charges of possession of heroin and driving with a suspended license. His Lincoln County warrant was for failing to appear in court on a larceny charge, and his Benton County warrant was for failing to appear in court on a charge of unlawful possession of an explosive. The arrest took place following a traffic stop at 12:45 a.m. on Highway 20 near Davis Road.

TRESPASSING: Philomath Police cited 34-year-old Corey Smith, no fixed address, on a trespassing charge two nights in a row — once for sleeping in his car at Marys River Park on Aug. 14 and again for sleeping in his car on the 300 block of South Ninth Street on Aug. 15.

WEDNESDAY, AUG. 16

TALL GRASS VIOLATION: Philomath Police contacted the owner of a vacant house on the 200 block of South 13th Street to mow the lawn because police determined it was in violation of the city’s tall grass and weed ordinance.

THURSDAY, AUG. 17

CITY CODE VIOLATIONS: Philomath Police took photos of a property on the 200 block of North 17th Street for multiple alleged violations of city code.
