WEDNESDAY, JULY 26

HIT-AND-RUN: Philomath Police took a report of a motorist causing property damage in a hit-and-run at 3:30 p.m. near Pioneer Street and Amethyst Avenue.

FRIDAY, JULY 28

ROOSTER TROUBLE: Philomath Police responded at 7:11 p.m. to a residence on the 1300 block of Cedar Street for a neighbor’s complaint that a rooster and hens were causing a disturbance. The officer explained to the bird owners the applicable city codes involving chickens, and they responded that they were accidentally sold a rooster and were in the process of finding it a new home.

VANDALISM: Philomath Police investigated the vandalism of a mobile home park manager’s vehicle, which happened sometime during the night of July 27 or early morning hours of July 28.

SATURDAY, JULY 29

LOUD PARTY: After receiving a noise complaint at 12:18 a.m., Philomath Police warned residents hosting a loud party on the 600 block of College Street to turn down their music.

PUBLIC ASSIST: Philomath Police aided a motorist at 12:20 a.m. whose car broke down on the 1000 block of South Applegate Street.

DUII: Philomath Police arrested Nathan Lawrence, 23, of Philomath, on a charge of driving under the influence of intoxicants following a vehicle crash at 2:43 a.m. on the 300 block of North Topaz Street. Lawrence’s blood alcohol content reportedly measured 0.19 percent, more than twice the legal limit.

DUII: Philomath Police arrested Marc Chase, 49, of Corvallis, on a charge of driving under the influence of intoxicants following a traffic stop at 7:22 p.m. near the intersection of Highway 20 and Highway 34. Chase’s blood alcohol content reportedly measured 0.08 percent.

PETTY THEFT: A man reported to Philomath Police at 4:34 p.m. that someone stole a 14-foot blue plastic pool cover from the front of his residence on the 1600 block of Applegate Street sometime in the previous 20 minutes. The estimated value of the pool cover was $10.

VEHICLE VS. DEER: A motorist traveling west at 7:20 p.m. on Highway 34, about four miles southwest of Philomath, struck a deer. The Benton County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene and reported that the motorist was not injured and that the vehicle sustained front-end damage. No word on how the deer fared.

SUNDAY, JULY 30

HARASSMENT: Benton County sheriff deputies responded at 10:52 p.m. for a report of a domestic disturbance at a residence on the 23000 block of Highway 20, about three miles northwest of Philomath. Subsequent investigation led to the arrest of one of the residents, 65-year old Roger Wayne Wilson, on a charge of harassment.

MONDAY, JULY 31

AGENCY ASSISTANCE: Philomath Police, a member of the area’s multi-agency Crash Investigation Team, helped investigate two fatal motorcycle crashes in north Corvallis July 31 at the intersection of Highway 20 and Northeast Conifer Boulevard, and at 4545 NW Highland Drive.

THURSDAY, AUG. 3

NO DOG-NAPPING: A woman reported to Philomath Police that when she left her house on the 2800 block of Newton Street that day, her front door was locked and her Boston terrier was secured in its crate, but that when she came home, the front door was open and the dog was gone. She suspected a dog-napping, but the animal was later located, and it was determined that the terrier had been loose in the house and that the front door had been left open.

LANDLORD/TENANT DISPUTE: A man who was renting a room at a residence on the 1000 block of Pioneer Street reported to Philomath Police that his landlord was locking him out of their apartment and refusing to give him back his belongings. Police could not help because it was deemed a civil issue, not a criminal one.
