FLAG FOUND: The Philomath Police Department reported last week that a U.S. flag attached to a pole and in pretty good condition was found in some bushes along Applegate Street and would like to reunite it with the owner. To claim the flag, call the police department at 541-929-6911.

FRIDAY, JULY 21

FALSE ALARM: While responding to an activated intrusion alarm at Philomath Middle School at 2:29 a.m., a Philomath police officer pulled over a vehicle leaving the area. Upon investigation, the officer determined the occupants of the vehicle were unrelated to the alarm, and there was no sign of unauthorized entry into the school.

FALSE ALARM: A Philomath police officer responded at 7:15 a.m. to an audible burglary alarm at Beggs Tire. He didn’t see any signs of suspicious activity.

NEIGHBOR DISPUTE: Philomath Police responded at 8:10 p.m. to an address on the 1200 block of North 19th Street to help settle a dispute between two neighbors.

WARRANT ARREST: Philomath Police arrested Marcy Savage, 44, of Philomath, on a Benton County Circuit Court warrant for possession of methamphetamine. The arrest took place at 11 p.m. in the alley behind the 1400 block of Main Street.

SATURDAY, JULY 22

CIVIL DISPUTE: Philomath Police responded at 1:30 a.m. to a report of a burglary-in-progress at an address on the 600 block of South 19th Street. The officer learned that it was not a burglary, but actually a civil dispute involving a tenant attempting to enter a room that the landlord had locked.

WARRANT: Philomath Police arrested Jason Cleveland, 35, of Lake Havasu City, Arizona, on an Albany Municipal Court warrant following a traffic stop at 11 p.m. near 13th and Applegate streets. Cleveland was also arrested on a concealed weapons charge after a search yielded brass knuckles and a large knife. Additionally, he was cited for driving with a suspended license, driving without liability insurance and failure to signal 100 feet in advance of a turn.

SUNDAY, JULY 23

DUII: Philomath Police arrested Ryan Huddleston, 36, of Corvallis, on a charge of driving under the influence of intoxicants following a traffic stop at 2 a.m. near the intersection of Newton Street and Newton Place.

WELFARE CHECK: Philomath Police responded to the 500 block of Starlight Way at 5:44 a.m. for a report of a disoriented woman who was possibly sleep walking. Police located her and returned her to her residence.

MISSING JUVENILE: Philomath Police took a report of a missing juvenile who eventually returned home safely.

THEFT: The Benton County Sheriff’s Office took a theft report from a Philomath area woman concerning someone fraudulently purchasing three iPhones using the woman’s credit card.

MONDAY, JULY 24

WARRANT: Philomath Police arrested Shawn Newport, 49, of Philomath, on a warrant for possession of methamphetamine. The arrest took place at 8:16 p.m. on the 100 block of South Eighth Street.

FAMILY DISPUTE: Two bothers got into a physical fight while their mother was away. An older brother grabbed his younger brother’s arm, who responded by biting the older brother. They separated and the younger brother had a friend call police. Philomath Police responded at 9:47 p.m.to the residence on the 1200 block of North 19th Street, but allowed their mother to handle the situation once she arrived home.

WEDNESDAY, JULY 26

FALSE ALARM: Benton County sheriff deputies responded at 10:31 a.m. to the 25000 block of Stokes Lane after an emergency button was activated in a vehicle equipped with an OnStar security system. Deputies learned that a woman was adjusting the mirror in her daughter’s car when she accidentally pressed the button.
