The principal criterion for the awards is academic merit. The deadline for receiving applications is 5 p.m. March 12 for high school seniors.
The committee is also accepting applications from nontraditional women students who are U.S. citizens and residents of Benton County, Linn County, or Monmouth or Independence in Polk County, age 30 or older who will be attending OSU full time or part-time in 2018-2019, while pursuing a bachelor’s, master’s or professional degree (doctorates not eligible). Principal criteria are financial need and merit.

Thes $3,000 awards ($1,500 for part-time nontraditional women students) are made possible by the work of the OSU Folk Club Thrift Shop in Corvallis. Both applications are available online at the OSU Folk Club’s website.
Last year, the organization awarded $66,000 to 12 high school students, four sophomores (previous freshman recipients) and seven full-time or half-time nontraditional students.
