The Philomath Lions Club’s three-day book sale returns to the Philomath Frolic and Rodeo Grounds Thursday through Saturday. Now in its 11th year, the sale runs from noon-6 p.m. Thursday and Friday, and noon-4 p.m. Saturday.
The book sale serves as the Lions Club’s biggest fundraiser of the year. Tom Wright, who serves as chairman of the book sale, said there will be 17,000 books to choose from this year. On Saturday, those who visit can fit all the books they can into a grocery bag for $4.
Proceeds from the sale are used primarily to support the organization’s college textbook scholarships awarded to Philomath High School students each spring. The club contributes to several other causes and organizations. Organizers have stressed that money raised stays in town.
