Marys River Grange plans to celebrate the National Grange's 150th anniversary Saturday with an open house event.

Marys River Grange Master Jay Sexton said the Philomath-area grange will have interpretative displays and refreshments from 1-4 p.m. Saturday. Marys River Grange is located at 24707 Grange Hall Road.

The Willamette Grange Hall, located at 30012 Highway 99W south of Corvallis, will also hold an open house from 1-4 p.m. Sunday.

The National Grange was established Dec. 4, 1867 by Oliver Hudson Kelly and six associates, formed in the years following the American Civil War to unite private citizens in improving the economic and social position of the nation's farm population.

Since 1873, the Oregon State Grange has provided service to agriculture and rural areas on a wide variety of issues, including economic development, education, family endeavors and legislation designed to assure a strong and viable Rural America. Marys River Grange was established in 1933.
