James “Jim” D. Elias passed away on June 16, 2017, while on vacation with his wife in Illinois.
Jim was born July 6, 1950 in Kent, England and was the son of Douglas Elias and Eileen McGoldrick Elias. His family immigrated to the United States in 1953, where he grew up in a suburb of Chicago, Illinois.
He met his wife Laura Schleder in 1969, married her on May 9, 1971. Jim and Laura moved to Oregon in 1985 to raise their family.
Jim was the owner of Apex Construction and Northwest Electrical Contractors. Most of his career was building homes in Philomath; helping many families obtain their first home to raise their families.
He had a strong faith in God and was an active member of his church. He loved to read the Bible and strived to live by God’s Word every day of his life.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 46 years, Laura Elias, and their six children, Angela Nord and her husband Dave of Mesa, Arizona, Erika Elias of Corvallis, Adam Elias of Philomath, Heidi Elias of Philomath, James Elias and his wife Maryann of Philomath, and Jessica Elias of Salem. He is also survived by four grandchildren: Kaitlyn and Alexander Nord of Mesa, Arizona and Marvin and Kailey Fredrickson of Philomath; brother Mike Elias also of Philomath; numerous cousins, nephews and nieces.
He was loved and is missed greatly by his family, friends and all who knew him.
A celebration of life will be held at Suburban Christian Church, 2760 SW 53rd Street, Corvallis on July 22, 2017 at 1 p.m. All are welcome to attend.
